Here is Kathy Kiggins who lived out on Rowayton Avenue. My sister, Jane, would know more about where she grew up. She was my sister’s age. That would put this picture somewhere in the late 50s. Kathy married Tony Macri.

Me, Claudia Gilmore (Bell Island), Anne Dwiggins (Bittersweet Trail) and Sally Hartigan (Barnfield Road) in front of Rowayton Schools playground.

    Howdy Win,

It is always nice to hear from you. No, I don’t remember the train but that sounds like Rinky. We (the Flicker La. gang) had a short cut to school by going down the old carrage trail that became the house (Profet’s) (sp) accross the street from the end of flicker lane and came out by the Gym. That was before the big addition. There was and old barn there also.

    Take care and stay healthy.

I’m sorry to hear about Rinky. I also remember the circus that Rinky had and the time he wanted to build a railroad from Rowayton School to Flicker Lane. Dirk, you may remember that too!

    Thanks Dirk,

I was older but I do remember when the Tebos moved into the Jacksons house leaving Ridgewood Road.

I also should have mentioned Sally Jackson, Rinky’s mother. Tom and Sally visited my parents in Woodstock (must have been 1996). Sally died of Lupus shortly afterwards (I hope I’ve got this right). They were always close friends of our family. My brother Peter probably knew Rinky.

    Hi Crick.,
Yes, also sorry to hear about Rinky. He lived in the house the Tebos (sp) moved into on Highland Ave. and Englewood. We played together all the time. Then he moved into the house behind me also on Highland Ave. Do you remember the circus he started when we all must of been 10 or so? One year in Lynn’s back yard and twice in his?

I ran a wire from my room down the fence and up to his room once to set up a telegraph key/buzzer.

If I remember right both Rinky and Jim Merlyn (sp) ran off to join the circus either just before or just after high school.

    Dirk

Sad to hear about Rinky. He must have been 60 or less. His father Tom senior visited us (my parents) in Woodstock in the late 90’s with his fiancee/wife. I believe they lived in Farmington. Haven’t heard from him since. The Jacksons were always our friends when growing up in Rowayton.

We missed Kathy at our Brien McMahon, Class of 1965 45th year reunion last night. Our deceased classmates were memorialized with a lovely poem “A Scot’s Farewell”. Two other Rowayton kids were in our prayers, Thomas C. Jackson, Jr. (known as Rinky) and Martha Jean Aspblom Keating.

Kathy Kiggins and her younger sister, Nancy, grew up on Wilson Ave, just up the hill from Rowayton School, on the left. She was born March, 1947 and graduated from Brien McMahon, class of 1965. Shortly after graduation she married Frank Macri (Tony or Anthony Macri married another Rowayton girl, Joujke Van DerGiessen from Roton Ave). She and Frank have 2 daughters and lived on Rowayton Ave, near the old cemetery in the Brookside School district. She later divorced Frank and married Don Getner, a McMahon alumni from class of 1965 and was happily married for 11 years. Sadly, she died in July 2005 from complications of a lingering illness. She remained best friends since kindergarten with Eleanor Stow Nielson who grew up on Witch Lane, near Wilson Ave. She was a niece of Dot Johnson, the Rowayton librarian. Her mother, Grace was Dot’s sister and her cousins were former Rowaytonites, David and Betty Jane Smith, Roton Ave. I believe this photo was in the early 60’s judging by the car model?
