What a funny anecdote about Dad. I think he did many quirky, humorous things back then which we children were never privy to. Yes, there were so many cocktail parties and dinners in Rowayton–I think the only time my parents were home on weekends was when they had people over; otherwise, they were making the rounds of their circle of friends. I remember your family well. Your mom was my sister Jenny’s godmother. I was in awe of your sister’s and your bedroom with the many toys and dolls, all neatly arranged.

Hi Janis – what a wonderful picture! I have good memories of the Thompsons and the Beattys in Rowayton. My mother used to tell a great story about your dad: sometimes at parties (the adults had MANY of those back then!) he would stand in the bathtub (curtain drawn) – supposedly gathering interesting material for his writing? He was certainly a clever and amusing writer -
