Below is a picture of my second wife Freda Darlene Merritt Rees and I taken in June 1995. This lady was an absolute sweetheart, my girls loved her. In the 6 years we were together there was never even a raised voice between us, truly a sweetheart, I lost her to colon cancer in July, 2000 without a doubt the best thing that ever happened to this boy and I miss her dearly even today!!
Below is my father James Rees, Sr., and my stepmom Francis Gover Rees at about 1970.

Further below is a picture of my son, Chris Myers (his mothers name) & his family. they are left to right wife Heather, grandson Jamie, Chris & grandaughter Jayne. They live in Sarasota FL. Found out about Chris in 1989, finally contacted him in April of 2006, and he came up to SC to visit me & his sisters over Labor Day weekend in 2006. I knew about Chris but had no cooperation from his mother, so eventually I found him on the Internet.

I BELIEVE ANDY ROONEY OWNS SEVERAL HOUSES AT THE WEST (ROWAYTON AVE) END OF HUNT ST INCLUDING MY GRANDPARENTS, THE DAVISES & BATTISTONES OLD HOME PLACES.ACCORDING TO JERRY.
ANDY, I REMEMBER YOUR DAD WALTER CORRECT? HE WAS A REGULAR VISITOR TO HARDING HARDWARE WHERE I WORKED AFTER SCHOOL & WEEKENDS FROM 1957-1960 WHEN I WENT INTO THE NAVY.
To John Funk
My Grandmother lived at 26 Hunt St from the mid 50s until she passed away in 1976. I believe the house was owned at that time by the Veccioni’s (sp).

Hey Jeff: small correction on the Thanksgiving picture with you & the girls – that was taken at the Zion restaurant and not at our house. Just FYI
MELISSA, LAURA & JENNY, I AM KINDA GLAD THERE WAS NOT A STEPHANIE, NOT THAT I DIDN’T ENJOY HER COMPANY AT THE TIME, BUT THEN I WOULD NOT HAVE ENJOYED & DEARLY LOVE MY MELISSA, LAURA & JENNIFER ALTHOUGH AT THAT POINT CHRIS WAS ALREADY IN THE HISTORY BOOKS UNBEKNOWNST TO ME.
FROM MY UNCLE BEN
from Ben Funk
The year we moved from the old two-story (four room) Elementary school to the brand new one was in 1941, shortly before the start of WW II. Miss Angie Wakeman was both the principal of the school as well as the 6th Grade teacher. In reflecting on it, I sincerely believe the downfall of Roton Point Park was directly attributable to WW II. Not only did all the young men who manned the park leave for the war effort, but also our nation had gas rationing, and pleasure travel almost completely disappeared. Though just barely a teen-ager during the war, many was the night that my dad and I manned an aircraft observation tower across the river in Tokeneke, calling in whatever we could about overhead aircraft, such as possible number of aircraft, guessed at altitude, and approximate direction of travel. One humorous anecdote was that my dad, then editor of the Funk & Wagnalls dictionary, was deaf in one ear, thus during our tours of duty, he not only couldn’t hear the overhead aircraft, but didn’t have a clue as to where they were or where they were headed. But with two sons in the Army, he felt it his civic duty to do what he could.
FROM MY UNCLE JOHN “I lived across from the school on Rowayton Ave. from 1922 to 1924 and at 26 Hunt St. from 1924 to 1927 and 1931 to 1938 when I went off to college. I attended the four-room grammar school where “Angie” Wakeman was the Principal. My best friend was Lester “Chubby” Fairchild who stayed pretty close to Rowayton for the rest of his life. My sister, Betty, married Jim “Peachy” Rees whose family lived on in Rowayton. Jim opened and operated for many years a Plumbing Supply Co. in Norwalk. I understand that Andy Rooney bought and renovated the old “Pepper House” on the corner of Hunt St. & Rowayton Ave. Our home there used to be a barn. My Dad bought it from Mr. Schoonover and had it moved from the south side of Dibble Lane to its present location at 26 Hunt St (aka “Witch Lane”)..Somewhere I have some old pictures, if anyone is interested. I currently live in Ventura, CA; about 70 mi. nw of Los Angeles. I became 94 today. – John Funk”

I REMINICED WITH JERRY HAYES AT BREAKFAST THIS MORNING. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE SERVICE IN DECEMBER 1963, I HAD BEEN ON OPERATION DEEP FREEZE AT THE SOUTH POLE WINTEROVER CREW 1962-1963. I HAD A BUNDLE OF CASH BURNING A HOLE IN MY POCKET, I WENT TO SEVERAL CAR DEALERS & THE ONLY ONE THAT WOULD TALK TO ME WAS A SALESMAN AT RUDY PONTIAC IN NORWALK, I CAN’T REMEMBER HIS NAME BUT I ORDERED A NEW MIDNITE BLUE 1964 PONTIAC GTO COUPE, 4-SPEED, TRI-POWER & THE WORKS, IT WAS GORGEOUS. THAT WAS THE CAR I HAD WHEN I MET & DATED STEPHANIE IN THE SUMMER OF 1964 & THE CAR I DROVE TO THE CITY, I TOLD THE DOORMAN NOBODY DRIVES THIS CAR BUT ME & HE FOUND ME A SPOT OUT OF THE WAY I COULD PARK IT, HAD MY VISIT WITH STEPHANIE’S PARENTS AND THEN DROVE BACK TO ROWAYTON LATER THAT NIGHT. FUNNY THING ABOUT THAT CAR IT WASN’T FAST ENOUGH SO AFTER I BLEW THE DOORS OFF A CORVETTE IN STAMFORD ONE NIGHT, I OVER REVED IT FLOATED A COUPLE OF BENT VALVES & LIMPED BACK HOME TO ROWAYTON, I PUT 421 HEADS, AN ISKY ROLLER CAM, HEDDMAN HEADERS & 2-4 BARELLS ON IT. IT WAS THAT WAY UNTIL I SOLD IT ABOUT 1980 FOR $850.00, WHEW WHAT A BEAST IT WAS AND I HAVE YET TO GROW UP!!! BOBBY CRAIG HAD A 1964 GTO CONVERTABLE, MY GTO WOULD LITERATELY RAISE THE FRONT WHEELS OFF THE GROUND.
